“What are they?” Eisa said, as she watched the petals flutter to the ground around them.

Leif smiled faintly and brushed some of them from her hair. “They’re called starflowers,” he said. He caught one and held it out to her. “Because of the shape.”

“They smell beautiful,” Eisa said, her voice soft. They didn’t have anything like this in the Lily Garden. She looked up at Leif and reached out to cup his cheek. “Thanks for showing me this.”

“You’re welcome,” he whispered.
